Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC)

EN-FAB, Inc. designed and fabricated eleven complete metering and measurement stations for a crude oil pipeline between Russia and Kazakhstan for Caspian Pipeline Consortium Project.

 

Background

Stretching over 1,500 kilometers from the country's giant Tengiz oil field to the Russian port of Novorossiysk on the Black Sea, The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) oil pipeline was commissioned in 2001.  As the first major pipeline to be built from a former Soviet country, the route was the result of years of planning and effort. The $2.5 billion project crosses Russian territory north and west of the Caspian, at full capacity the pipeline handled 67 million tons, the equivalent of over 1.3 million barrels per day, and is so long that it initially took 105 days to fill the entire pipeline.

 

Construction of the pipeline infrastructure began in 1999 with the groundbreaking ceremony held near Yuzhnaya Ozereevka on May 12, 1999. Pipeline line filling with oil from Tengiz Fields, Kazakhstan, began in March 2001, and on October 13 of the same year CPC loaded the first tanker at its terminal located near Yuzhnaya Ozereevka.

Marine Terminal near Novorossiysk

One (1) packaged liquid custody transfer metering system for handling 600 m3/hr maximum of crude oil.  The package consists of a single run  with 6” turbine meter, straightening vane, in-line strainer, control, double block and bleed valves, inlet and outlet manifolds, drain system, instruments, all mounted on skid.

 

Tengiz Pump Station

One (1) packaged liquid custody transfer metering system for handling 6000 m3/hr maximum of crude oil.  The package consists of three (3) parallel runs (two operating and one spare) with 16” turbine meters, straightening vanes, in-line strainers, control, double block and bleed valves, inlet and outlet manifolds, drain system, instruments, bi-directional meter prover, quality control package, all mounted on skids.

 

Atyrau Pump Station 1

One (1) packaged liquid custody transfer metering system for handling 2000 m3/hr maximum of crude oil.  The package Consists of two (2) parallel runs (both operating) with 8” turbine meters, straightening vanes, in-line strainers, control, double block and bleed valves, inlet and outlet manifolds, drain system, instruments, all mounted on skid.

 

Atyrau Pump Station 2

One (1) packaged liquid custody transfer metering system for handling 2000 m3hr maximum of crude oil.  The package consists of three (3) parallel runs (two operating and one spare) with 8” turbine meters, straightening vanes, in-line strainers, control, double block and bleed valves, inlet and outlet manifolds, drain system, instruments, bi-directional meter prover, quality control package, all mounted on skids.

 

Atyrau Oil Base Station

One (1) packaged liquid custody transfer metering system for handling 600 m3/hr maximum of crude oil.  The package  consists of a single run  with 6” turbine meter, straightening vane, in-line strainer, control, double block and bleed valves, inlet and outlet manifolds, drain system, instruments, all mounted on skid

 

Komsomolskaya Pump Station

One (1) packaged liquid custody transfer metering system for handling 1800 m3/hr maximum of crude oil.  The package consists of four (4) parallel runs (three operating and one spare) with 6” ultrasonic meters, straightening vanes, in-line strainers, control, double block and bleed valves, inlet and outlet manifolds, drain system, instruments, bi-directional meter prover, quality control package, all mounted on skids

 

Kropotkin Pump Station

One (1) packaged liquid custody transfer metering system for handling 600 m3/hr maximum of crude oil.  The package  consists of a single run  with 6” turbine meter, straightening vane, in-line strainer, control, double block and bleed valves, inlet and outlet manifolds, drain system, instruments, all mounted on skid.
