The basic criteria for the design of gas measurement system consists of properties and conditions of flowing gas with rate, type and location of the station, and the code to which it is designed and built.

Gas Measurement Stations

Liquid Metering System

City Gate Stations are gas measurement/pressure regulating and reducing packages. Installed outside city limits on gas pipelines, they supply gas to end users at the required consumption pressure.

Verification and/or checking the accuracy of liquid meters can be done with a device known as a liquid displacement meter prover. Meter provers can be stationary or mobile, bi-directional, uni-directional, piston type and small volume type.

In both gas and liquid applications, pressure reduction/regulation is required. For example in a gas distribution system the gas pressure will start in the pipeline above 1,000 psig and end up at a plant or at a residence at a pressure as low as 15 inches of water column.

Pressure Reducing and Regulating Skids

Consisting of a densitometer, viscometer, pressure transmitter, temperature transmitter and flow meter. The leak detection system does an on-line evaluation of viscosity, density, pressure and temperature of the fluid flowing.

Used to prepare the fuel (gas) before use in an engine, or burner, the gas enters a scrubber or filter separator where the solids and moisture are removed.

Fuel Gas Conditioning Systems

The quality analyzer system takes samples proportional to flow and does an on-line evaluation of viscosity, density, pressure, temperature and water content of; the fluid flowing.

Quality Analyzer Systems

Gas Dehydrators work by passing moisture absorbing liquid (ethylene glycol) downward through a contactor tower as a wet gas is passed upward through the tower. Moisture from the gas is absorbed into the liquid.

Glycol Dehydration Systems

Slug Catchers are devices designed to handle massive amounts of liquid moving through pipelines. They are designed with the intent of creating a retention time which slows the large unexpected movements of liquid in the pipelines.

Located after the Pig Receiver, a filter separator removes 99% of solids of 1 micron size or larger. It also removes liquids from the gas stream. The liquid is then routed to a sump where it is stored for pick up on a regular basis.

Surge Control Systems are piping and valve control systems which control hydraulic jumps of liquids in pipelines due to valves slamming shut on terrain effects.
